Kjersti Sundland - To the thinker who is not the gardener, only the soil of the plants that grow

To the thinker who is not the gardener, only the soil of the plants that grow
2019

The video was made as part of an installation, connecting the construction of dreams to patterns in nature produced by high voltage discharge. In the book by Hillel Schwartz Unreasonable Facsimiles Culture of the Copy: Striking Likenesses, Schwartz connects the discovery of Lichtenberg figurations, made by the German physicist Georg Friedrich Lichtenberg in 1777, to Freudian psychoanalysis and the conception of dreaming. Schwartz connects the branches appearing on the conductive surface, the electrical impulses producing fractals to the underlying forces behind the creation of subconscious images. The lines move forward, ignite, spark new connections, becoming visible like branches of a tree across a conductive surface
