A Weak & Panicked Animal

A statement about the work
“A parasitic POV, reanimating scrap footage of security cameras, bodycams. Everything comes from elsewhere: the voice is not the host’s own. It imitates, like a lyrebird. Echoes. Taunts. This is a documentary with no host and no camera. The planet has no mouth, but it evolved a way to scream.” – Words courtesy by Harry de Vries

Jake Starr is a research-based artist residing on unceded Gadigal land. Starr’s practice yearns across new media, sculpture, film and text, toward speculative post-human futures. Much of their process involves the collation and appropriation of often disregarded ideas, data and intelligences in order to formulate new and surprising relational ecologies.
