I need your clothes, your boots, and your motorcycle
Natalie Price Hafslund
The GoPro alignment laser precisely hits the pupil of the protagonists eye as they reach repeated moments of climax in the shower. The work acts a sub-literal reference to the historical treatment of women with ‘hysteria’, where hysterical paroxysm was previously prescribed using hydro therapy. By embodying the Terminator, the artist antagonises the concept of professionalism in domestic care roles and reproductive labour, highlighting ones tenacity, will and stamina, challenging ideological programming as a pleasure seeking self contained autonomous unit.
Natalie Price Hafslund is an artist and writer based in Oslo, Norway. Their work discharges sociopolitical conditioning by gently tormenting environments with alchemical experiences of gender, power and control manacled in the vast multifaceted ideology of late capitalism.
Hafslund studied at the RCA and MSA, they recently produced solo shows and performances at UKS, Kunstnernes Hus and Bergen Kunsthall. Upcoming exhibitions include projects at Elephant, Los Angeles, Kesselhaus, Bamberg and UUVV, Milan. Hafslund is founder of Long Road Projects.
Being invited by the artist, the next artist showing is Simen Musaeus.
