Xheneta Imeri
Bout-du-monde
2023
A statement by the artist
Xheneta Imeri explores notions of the limit, the body, transmission, wounds, fears and healing. Accompanied by her father, they travel together, both physically and poetically, to the “Bout-du-Monde”. They film each other, creating a visual dialogue. She also tackles questions about immigration, the difficulties it can bring, and how to deal with them. She talks about why immigrants often have to work twice as hard to succeed, and how they can rebuild their lives by rebuilding their city. Indeed, she also talks about how her father built buildings in their town.
Xheneta Imeri
Xheneta Imeri is an Albanian artist born in 1997 and based in Geneva. Her multidisciplinary practice takes the form of text, sound installation, video, sculpture and performance. Her work draws directly from everyday life, and unearths the non-events that punctuate it. She seeks to give poetic form to the micro-situations that occur in interpersonal relationships, both on and off-line. Always rooted in a questioning of relations of domination, Xheneta’s written and narrated stories are ways of theorizing the everyday and apprehending the intimate as eminently political. Her recent projects continue to reflect a deep linguistic and textual interest in the languages of love and faith.
