A statement by the artist

This is a story of a specter making a living as a laborer in a lesbian club in Seoul, always present but perpetually deferred, with clandestine intersections with the existence of queerness. Thousands of years in the future, the protagonist “X,” awakened in an invited place, finds herself working as a laborer in a lesbian club. In the harsh labor environment, X makes choices to survive. The common language between the laborer and the queer is ‘invisibility.’

Yagwang

“Yagwang” is a visual artist collective consisting of Kim Tae-ri and Jeon In. It was formed in July 2021 with the project “Lubricant” as a starting point and held an individual exhibition with the same title at Windmill in Seoul in 2022. Through resistant attempts to reject fixed visuality and concepts of gender, Yagwang responds to the discordant timeline of the contemporary era.
